This year, WWE saw tag teams step up to the plate in order to have themselves called the best 2016 tag team. Nobody was as good as The New Day who broke the record for longest tag team title reign of all time. Other tag teams worth mentioning are American Alpha, Heath Slater and Rhyno and The Wyatt Family.
The New Day has the right to be called the 2016 best tag team when they survived two triple threat tag team title matches, according to Sporting News. They now have the longest WWE tag team title reign at 383 days as it was broken by Sheamus & Cesaro at WWE Roadblock. Their first triple threat tag team match was against Sheamus and Cesaro and The Club. The second was against the team of WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho and former Shield members Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
The best tag team of 2016 still have their rematch clause though and expect them to use it at a time when they are most convenient at. They even have the Freebird rule because any 2 members of their three-man team can defend the titles while the third member acts as a manager on the outside of the ring.
The inaugural WWE Smackdown tag team champions Heath Slater & Rhyno certainly deserve to be mentioned as the 2016 best tag team. Heath Slater was comedic gold in his family skits and Rhyno being himself was enough.
The sounds of one of the most powerful stables in the WWE, the Wyatt family as Smackdown tag team champions would be enough to call them the 2016 best tag team. They soundly defeated former champs Rhyno & Heath Slater to capture the gold at WWE TLC, according to Wrestling Inc, and they have looked dominant ever since.
