The year 2016 featured many films that are sequels with Hollywood churning out a lot of that the sheer volume is almost staggering. It seems 2017 is not going to be any different with hosts of sequels lined up; however, we list only eight as we hope are the most anticipated for the coming year.
War for the Planet of the Apes (July 14, 2017)
Caesar is back in this third installment of the modern day retelling of the classic "Planet of the Apes." In this sequel, Caesar, and the apes are forced into conflict with the humans. Their struggle will determine the fate of the whole planet.
Wolverine 3: Logan (March 3, 2017)
Hugh Jackman's last outing as the clawed X-Man as he has signified retiring the role he played for the last 16 years. Wolverine re-ignited the superhero genre and it's time Hugh Jackman's Wolverine bow out with a bang.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5, 2017)
Initially considered a risk for Marvel Studios, it ended up being a massive hit. The whole cast is back joined by Kurt Russell playing Ego the Living Planet who happens to be Star Lord's father, according to MovieWeb.
Alien: Covenant (May 19, 2017)
"Alien: Covenant" is the second book in the prequel trilogy of the highly successful "Alien" series. The plot had Covenant follow "Prometheus" where it led to what seemed like a paradise in the far side of the galaxy, which is actually a dangerous place, according to DigitalSpy. .
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (October 6, 2017)
The continuing story of Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton). This time he sets foot in America with Roxy and Merlin to join the Statesman, the American counterpart of Kingsmen. This would be one sequel to look forward to with big named stars joining the cast.
Transformers: The Last Knight (June 23, 2017)
Optimus Prime left Earth in search of the Creators only to return seemingly a rogue. The battle against machine and human ensues, however, only one will survive.
Blade Runner 2049 (October 6, 2017)
The neo-noir sci-fi returns with Harrison Ford reprising his role set 30 years after the first Blade Runner film. A secret threatens to plunge what is left of society into further chaos.
Star Wars Episode VIII (December 15, 2017)
The second installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy following "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" follows the story of Rey who might be a "vergence" like Anakin Skywalker.
