VR has made it to the headlines in 2017. Google, PlayStation, Snap, Pokemon Go, and HTC are just some of the big names that brought this new technology to a whole new level. With these new advancements in augmented reality, it would be just right to ask what will be the new VR trend 2017.
VR Trend on Gaming in 2017
During the Uncharted Minds Thought Leadership Series, some of the brightest minds in the VR industry claimed that gaming companies will be the first to benefit from the advancements of VR trend 2017, Upload VR reported. This notion was voiced out by Presence Capital founder Amitt Mahajan, who said that huge growth is already obvious, with successful brands like Oculus and Vive making tens of millions of dollars worth of business.
Meanwhile, Unity's VR and AR strategy head Tony Parisi said, gamers will look for the best VR hardware and the best games and immerse into VR. All they need is a new and well performing computer to plug in their VR hardware.
Other VR Trends in 2017
Another big VR trend 2017 is the rise of the 360-degree content. This new technology will be 2017's new selfie, Slash Gear reported. In the following years, there will be new affordable 360-degree cameras. These could be independent hardware, like GoPros, or it could be attached to smartphones.
Speaking of smartphone, Mobile VR can also be expected in 2017. When it starts to become a trend, people will want to get their hands on their own VR camera. To make it affordable, there will be companies that will deliver and bring this technology into smartphones as Mobile VR. With the advancements like Google Cardboard and its Daydream platform, this is most likely going to happen.
VR could be quite isolating, but if the right company, especially social media platforms, will develop their own augmented reality technology, it could be a new way to socialize. Think of Facebook 2.0 or Twitter Two.
