"Hunter X Hunter" creator Yoshiro Togashi's health was reported to take a turn for the worse a few months back, now fans of "Hunter X Hunter" are dazed and not sure if there will be a chapter 361 to the manga and anime series.

The series creator has taken his longest hiatus that has fans on edge as to his health status from suffering chronic back pain. There have been numerous speculations that due to this, Togashi may no longer continue work on the manga.

While there have been talks that he hired writers and artists to work with him, it seems that their work was inadequate to live up to expectations. This sparked another round of rumors that Togashi's wife, Naoko Takuechi will apparently take over from where he left off.

Interestingly, Takuechi is one of the creators of another successful manga and anime series, "Sailor Moon," according to BreatheCast. Reportedly, Takuechi is said to be at work on drawing the background patterns and illustrations of "Hunter X Hunter."

The bleak situation has left the producers of "Hunter X Hunter" to consider cancelling the third season of the series. There wild speculations that Viz Media are scouting for new authors to continue with the series, but hardcore fans of the series did not take this bit of news too well. Fans were quick to point out that Togashi is behind the popularity of the series, according to a Vine Report.

Recently, however, Togashi was spotted active and attended the 40th anniversary and conclusion of Osamu Akimoto's "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo" (Kochikame), Anime News Network reported. The posted photo during the event puts in doubt Togashi's true condition and implied that the artist might just have opted not to go back to work on "Hunter X Hunter".

A much dire rumor is that Togashi might just be fired altogether with the producers hiring a new set of writers to finish "Hunter X Hunter." Speculations say they might not even hire Togashi's wife. Accordingly, Togashi was given a deadline of February 2017 to report.

However, there are persistent reports that he is not getting better. This early, we cannot say if fans will be accepting of new artists and writers to continue with "Hunter X Hunter" without Togashi.
