‘Baywatch’ 2017 Reboot: Zac Efron, Dwayne Johnson Show Off Rip Bods; Details On Priyanka Chopra’s Character
ByZac Efron and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson showed off their buff, chiseled bods in the new full-length trailer of the "Baywatch" reboot. Paramount Pictures released the trailer this week and it features the entire "Baywatch" ensemble and a surprise appearance by a rumored villain.
Johnson plays Mitch Buchanan, the leader of the lifeguard team. The character was previously portrayed by David Hassellhoff in the original TV series.
Efron, on the other hand, plays the flirty lifeguard Matt Brody. In the trailer, Efron's Matt is seen flirting with a woman. David Charvet played Matt in the series. The character is a new member of the lifeguard team, and Mitch was initially hesitant to have him join despite boasting having two Olympic gold medals under his belt.
The female lifeguards also make an appearance in the film, doing the signature "Baywatch" slow-mo jog by the beach. The sizzling female cast includes Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and Ilfenesh Hadera.
Priyanka Chopra also makes a quick appearance as Victoria Leeds. Apart from the name, no information about Chopra's character has been revealed. It is presumed that Chopra is playing the bad guy in the "Baywatch" reboot. However, Johnson teased that Chopra will definitely "slay" in the film, Hindustan Times reported.
According to The Daily Mail, the new "Baywatch" movie is a reboot of the hit 90s TV show. It is set in Miami and will focus on two lifeguards who discover that things are not what it seems on the shoreline. Matt and Mitch work together to figure out why dead bodies are suddenly being dumped by the beach.
The "Baywatch" trailer pays an ode to many elements in the hit 90s TV series, which starred Hassellhoff and Pamela Anderson. For one, the main cast members are wearing the signature red bikinis and swim wear. There are also shots of them doing the slow-motion jog by the beach, which is a popular aspect of the "Baywatch" television show.
Both Anderson and Hasselhoff will appear in the "Baywatch" reboot.
"Baywatch" reboot will open in theaters on May 26, 2017.
