Rumor: LG G6 To Have Non-Removable Battery & Full Glass Body; Everything You Need To Know [Video]
BySeeking to redeem itself from the tepid reception of the modular LG G5, the company decided to scrap its modular design and go with a fully integrated non-removable battery.
The LG G6 instead of the rumored full glass body will feature a highly reflective metallic material as Tweeted by David Ruddock of Android Police. Additionally, the final design will retain the headphone jack, GSMArena reported.
Scrapping modular design LG G6 may add water resistance to the phone and apparently, companies that supply waterproof adhesives are bidding to keep the LG G6's internals dry, according to DigitalTrends. Initially rumored to sport a curved OLED screen, however, supply issues made LG decide not to include the feature.
As it goes, the LG G6 will feature a traditional flat-screen LCD like its previous flagships. The supply chain problems forced LG to redesign the phone. With less than a year from launch, whatever LG has now is surely underway, which means more guesswork and rumors will begin seeping in.
LG G6 Specs
The LG G5 was a powerful phone albeit its apparent unpopular design. It feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of LPDDR RAM, in addition, it had 32GB worth of storage. It is only logical that the LG G6 will feature better internals than its predecessor.
The LG G6 is rumored to sport Qualcomm's Snapdragon 830. A leak already confirmed the chip is reportedly being manufactured by Samsung's chip-making division. The chip's 10nm manufacturing process would mean better power and performance levels.
It is highly likely that LG G6 would retain or improve upon LG G5's 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage, as well as retain the USB-C port. LG G5 had a dual-camera at the back of the unit which was said to be strong features. Pundits hope a similar setup would be incorporated into the LG G6.
The LG G6, as said, will now have a non-removable battery. The G5 had a 2,800mAh battery which is not so great, it would be expected that LG will improve on this in the LG G6 now with battery life improvements offered by Android Nougat 7.0.
