Time Magazine recently revealed its Person of the Year to be Donald Trump for his stunning victory in the US elections. For the WWE, it won't be an easy task to name its Person of the Year as many wrestlers accomplished big things this year.
According to WWE.com, there are so many wrestlers who deserve to be named Person of the Year. The WWE has listed Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Dean Ambrose, Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, James Ellsworth and Cesaro as candidates for the award.
Chris Jericho, according to Comic Book, is number 5 when it comes to naming the Person of the Year because of how he resurrected his career at age 49. He was able to get over witty catch phrases such as "stupid idiot," "you just made the list" and "drink it in man." Current WWE Raw Women's Champion Sasha Banks and her fierce rival Charlotte comes in at number four because of how they revolutionized women's wrestling in the WWE. They became the first women to main event a PPV when their hell in a cell match was the main event of Hell in a Cell.
AJ Styles shocked the world when he debuted in the WWE on the Royal Rumble match and he deservingly gets the number three spot. After winning the world heavyweight title, he became the first person to win the world title in all three major wrestling promotions. James Ellsworth came in at number 2 because of how he has transformed from a jobber to a mainstay in the main event scene of the Smackdown brand.
Nobody in the WWE has accomplished more this year than the COO of the company, Triple H. Triple H brought back the Cruiserweight Division and recruited stars such as Sami Zayn, Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura to NXT. In the ring, he won the 2016 Royal Rumble match and became World Heavyweight Champion.
