‘How I Met Your Mother’ Movie Adaptation: Alternative Ending Resurrects Mother; Will New Ending Earn Fans’ Approval This Time? [Video]
By"How I Met Your Mother" movie adaptation may happen as creator Carter Bays finally yields to fans who are asking for an alternative ending different from the last season finale of the TV series. The movie may resurrect the long-deceased Mother, but speculations abound if the new "How I Met Your Mother" movie plot twist will earn fans' approval this time.
"How I Met Your Mother" has been one of the most loved and successful CBS TV series with nine episodes that have been solidly followed by fans. The show is about the journey of one man, Ted Mosby, played by Josh Radnor in his search for love.
"How I Met Your Mother" followed a distinct format of flashbacks and fast forwards in telling the story of Ted who was narrating his own story to his children, starting from how he met his first love, Robin (Cobie Smulders) and then the children's Mother (Christin Milloti). Just when fans were about to meet Mother and expect Ted's happily-ever-after with her, creator Carter Bays opted to kill Mother who succumbed to cancer and Ted ended up years later with Robin.
"How I Met Your Mother" season 9 finale was met with tremendous backlash from fans who were disappointed how the series ended after spending the previous seasons denying a Ted-Robin union. Moreover, fans have been eagerly anticipating meeting Mother, whom many have come to adore based on Ted's wonderful storytelling, but her appearance was short-lived, TVCom has learned.
Hence, Bays may have finally relented to the requests of fans as implied by the Burrard Street Journal, which is the first to post a "How I Met Your Mother" movie adaptation. The post also revealed that Bays and CBS have eyed a December 2017 release with a working title of "How I Resurrected Your Mother" that tells of an alternative ending.
However, the Burrard Street Journal is known as a satire news site and may just be teasing fans with a "How I Met Your Mother" movie adaptation. Nonetheless, Jason Segel (Marshall Eriksen) said during the Austin Film Festival that he will be very interested to have a reunion with the "How I Met Your Mother" gang, according to The Bitbag.
CBS nor Bays has made any official comment on the matter, which may indicate that a "How I Met Your Mother" movie adaptation may be a farfetched idea for now. Besides, fans may not also approve of resurrecting a long dead Mother, thereby giving Carter and his team more time to think of a much better alternative storyline.
