When the lights are out and you still find it hard to fall asleep, you might have a sleeping problem. Your daily habits might be sabotaging your sleep. In order to get a good night's sleep, here are the mistakes and habits you should avoid.
Hitting the snooze button
It is important for any individual to get a good quality sleep, and every time you hit the snooze button, you are starting a new sleeping cycle that you might not be able to finish until you turn the alarm off again. Robert S. Rosenberg, medical director of the Sleep Disorders Centers of Prescott Valley and Flagstaff, Arizona told CNN "You're fragmenting what little extra sleep you're getting so it is of poor quality,"
Less exposure to the sun
According to studies, exposing yourself to the sunlight especially in the morning, can make you fall asleep at night because sunlight tells you to feel awake in the daytime and should be hitting the sheets at night.
Too much time spent on your smart phone
Studies have suggested how too much screen time before you sleep can be detrimental to your sleep, however, this does not only hold true before you go to bed because using too much of your smart phone anytime within the day can still affect the quality of your sleep.
You don't have enough exercise or physical activities
Regular exercise can help you sleep better. Or even if you don't do heavy workouts, less time spent sitting around corresponds to good quality sleep.
You use your bed for work
It is advised to save your bed only for sleeping so that you can train your body that it's time to sleep once you hit your bed.
