Since Kieran (Amadeus Serafini) got killed off in the Scream Halloween special by a person wearing a Brandon James mask, it is now presumed the next season will reveal the true killer. Also, due to poor ratings, "Scream" Season 3 may be the last for the MTV series.
According to Cinema Blend, "Scream" Season 3 will only last for 6 short episodes which is another indication it is the last season. The renewal came as a shock to many since any TV series shown at MTV doesn't usually garner high ratings. MTV did produce the Halloween special so it seems they have high hopes for the series.
The premiere date of "Scream" Season 3 has yet to be announced according to TV Line. The finale of Season 2 did reveal Kieran to be the killer but after he got killed in the Halloween special, it is believed that there is another killer which could be the original owner of the mask, Brandon James. Season 3 will certainly reveal who it is, most likely in the last episode of the series.
"Scream" Season 3 ended up suffering from the same thing all horror movies suffer from when it moves to the small screen which is squeezing in so many storylines and not knowing when to kill off characters. In the movie, it is alright to kill off characters since you would not know who would appear in the sequel. The same can't be said for a TV series though.
"Scream" Season 3 is expected to have surviving characters from the previous season returning. It is expected to feature Willa Fitzgerald as Emma Duval, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Audrey Jensen, John Karna as Noah Foster, Carlson Young as Brooke Maddox and Tracy Middendorf as Maggie Duval.
