"The 100" Season 4 will be releasing its teaser trailer soon and the storylines will feature more intense drama as promised by showrunner Jason Rotheberg. Moreover, Ilan will return this season replacing Lexa as Clarke's newest love interest.

"The 100" Season 3 ended with Lexa (Alycia Debnam Carey) who was accidentally killed by Titus (Neil Sandilands) when the shot was really intended for Clarke (Eliza Taylor). Fans reacted and clamored to bring Lexa back, but Rotheberg has made it official that the character is out of the show for good.

The LGBTQ also received the news unfavorably, which may explain why the show will be featuring more LGBTQ actors for Season 4, possibly as a peace offering. Moreover, Clarke will also be having a new love interest in Ilan who will be played by returning cast member Chai Romruen of "Mako Mermaids" as reported by Deadline.

Ilan is a former Grounder who previously worked with Alie (Erica Cerra) and his character will be featured predominantly in "The 100" Season 4 episodes. Ilan will be fighting supernatural creatures and according to Rotheberg will bring the new season to an all "new level," promising more intense drama and brutality.

"The 100" has never shied from showing grisly content, which suits the show's theme of post-apocalyptic survival. Despite starting shaky, the show has now a huge fan base mainly because it tackles morally complex stories that no other shows have done, Cinema Blend reported.

"The 100" Season 4 will see Clarke in a more ruthless leadership as she struggles to keep everyone safe. Radiation still remains to be a huge threat, which is why leaked photos suggest that the survivors will be building more caves.

Moreover, there will be three additional clans to help the survivors, based on the photos revealed by the producers featuring costumes described as Vikings-Style, Ice Nation and Forest Theme. Meanwhile, producers also hinted a coming teaser trailer that is still in the works, possibly released in January next year.

Other characters who will be making a comeback in Season 4 include Bellamy (Bob Morley), Monty Green (Christopher Larkin), Thelonious Jaha (Isiah Washinton), Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos), and Jasper Jordan (Devon Bostwick) according to Cinema Blend. "The 100" Season 4 returns to CW on Feb. 1, 2017.
