Latest rumored prototypes of the Microsoft Surface Phones break the surface with three variants with sporting 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB models.

Surface Phone Specs

The Surface Phone prototypes are rumored to sport the newest Snapdragon 835 processor that runs on the Windows 10 64-bit mobile platform. However, the 6GB model is said to also capable of running X86 Apps in Microsoft Continuum.

Rumors abound with Microsoft is working on an X86-onARM64 emulation; this might be an indication of the implementation of such a move. According to NokiaPowerUser, the handsets, by themselves, will not be able to run X86 apps but can install such apps on the Surface Phone. Once the user gets Continuum online, however, these apps would be able to run on the system.

However, the 4GB model though also running on Snapdragon 835 will not be able to run X86 apps. The display of the rumored Surface Phone is a 5.5-inches QHD Screen. The camera may sport a 20MP Carl Zeiss lens and may also carry USB-C option.

Surface Phone on Windows 10 Redstone 3

Initially rumored to be released in April 2017 and incorporated into the Surface Phone, the delay was due to the development of Redstone 2 for which will bring new features to the PC as well as mobile, according to WindowsCentral. However, further delays for the Surface phone are now attributed to the development of Redstone 3 update for Windows 10.

Whichever version they decide to incorporate in Surface Phone, note that both Redstone 2 and Redstone 3 are heavily focused on innovations it can bring to mobile phones. For now, it will be a waiting game once again for the Surface phone.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is reportedly on the move to continue releasing iterations of the Windows 10 mobile until they get it right. Initially, emerged as unappealing as compared to its competitors Samsung and Apple, the current upswing of the Surface brand and ultimately being declared as one of the best three 'best in class' devices, it somehow revived the interest in the Surface Phone.
