Christmas comes early for Star Wars fans as Disney announced that "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" tickets will finally go on sale Monday.
Disney announced the advanced ticket sales through a tweet in their official "Star Wars" account. The announcement came with a message directed at one of the franchise's most important character, Darth Vader, saying that they have been expecting him, CNN reported. This would definitely rake in big amount of money just like last year's Star Wars movie.
When "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was released December last year, it broke almost every box office record. It made $2 billion worldwide and $100 million in advanced ticket sales, USA Today reported.
Spin off and Prequel
The new stand alone Star Wars movie does not pick up where episode 7 left off. Instead, it takes the audiences back in time before the "Episode IV: A New Hope." "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" focuses on the rebels who stole the Death Star plans.
Darth Vader Appearance
One of the most anticipated things in the movie is the return of Darth Vader to the big screen. He will be back in his full-suit and is voiced by James Earle Jones.
Director Gareth Edwards said shooting the movie made them feel like they are in the playground, and they see Darth Vader himself standing there. He said Vader commands great respect, even though they know that there is some guy wearing the suit.
Everybody had a fan-boy freak out, though everybody tried not to show it, according to Edwards. It is impossible not to freak out seeing an iconic character such as Vader in production, he added.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will debut in theatres on December 16, starring Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and Alan Tudyk, to name a few.
