Android 7.1 Nougat to Nexus and Pixel Devices
It seems like the most anticipated rollout of Android 7.1 Nougat is likely to happen soon to eligible Nexus and Pixel devices. According to Venture Beat, the second developer preview of the latest android beta program has started rolling out to Huawei Nexus 6P, LG Nexus 5X, HTC Nexus 9 and Google Pixel C tablet.
The second developer preview of Android 7.1 Nougat includes UI and finalized system behaviors, optimization across Google apps and the system and security patches for bug fixes. Android 7.1 Nougat is expected to be available for download on the above-mentioned devices in December.
Android 7.1 Nougat Developer Preview 2 is mainly targeting those developers who are preparing their apps for the latest version of Nougat. For this reason, Google has made Android Studio 2.2.2, Android emulator images and provided tools for developers to create icons for their apps.
To be able to get Android 7.1 Nougat Developer Preview 2, users of compatible devices must sign up on Android's Beta Program of the manufacturer and an over-the-air update will immediately follow. Another way of getting the preview is through downloading it from Android website and runs it in the device; however, this option imposes risk such as losing the phone's data, Gadgets NDTV reported.
Android 7.1 Nougat Features
Google has previously made it clear to the public that Android 7.1 Nougat updates won't bring all the Pixel phone-exclusive features to other devices. According to Ars Technica, Google Assistant and the new Pixel Launcher are the two features that will not make it to non-Pixel phones and devices.
Furthermore, Daydream VR Support and seamless update mechanism will not also be available on the latest rollout of android beta program. Nevertheless, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P will be the first ones to get the latest update and will be followed by Nexus 9 and Pixel C tablet.
