‘ASUS ZenBook 3’ Review: An Alternative To MacBook, Design, Specs, Price

Tech company ASUS has been captivating the consumers with its "ZenBook" series and has unveiled this year "ZenBook 3."  It hopes that "ZenBook 3" will bring out good competition and become an alternative to Apple's MacBook.

The “ZenBook” series, including "ZenBook 3," has been a high-end head turner with its premium and lustrous design of slim ultrabooks. 

Design and Built

At first glance, ASUS “ZenBook 3” looks like almost a facsimile of the Apple 12-inch MacBook. Its built is an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy making it lighter, but 50 percent more durable than other laptops.

It merely weighs 910 grams and sports an 11.9mm thick chassis. ASUS “ZenBook 3” has three colors to choose from - Gold, Quartz grey and Royal Blue.

Specs

As it was unveiled earlier this year, the ASUS “ZenBook 3” is considerably a great alternative with the Apple’s MacBook. The laptop has a 12.5-inch full HD display (16:9) and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

It also features a high brightness of 300 nits with a 72 percent NTSC color gamut a contrast ratio of 1000:1. The display is buoyed by ASUS’ Splendid Display technology.

This device is running with a Microsoft Windows 10 and the latest processor from Intel which is the 7th Generation 2.7GHz Core i7-7500U Kaby Lake clubbed with Intel HD Graphics 620.

ASUS “ZenBook 3” also comes with 16GB of 2133MHz RAM and an ultra-fast 3rd Generation 512GB PCIe SSD. Its long-standing battery life can be run of a total of 10 hours with a 40 Wrs battery.

Other specs include a VGA webcam, dual-band 2x802.11ac WLAN, Bluetooth v4.1, an audio jack and a single USB 3.1 Type-C that serves as display output for USB ports as well as charging. ASUS “ZenBook 3” also managed to replicate an identical design with the MacBook’s keyboard.

Price

ASUS “ZenBook 3” 7th Generation Kaby Lake CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD is priced at $1,099 while the 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD variant is priced at $1,599.
