With the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story drawing closer, fans just can't help but look for clues from the trailer. One scene in the trailer actually reveals one important plot, that the movie is not all about stealing the Death Star plans, there is also a military base that should be destroyed, which the Empire is protecting with much of its power.

Most may already know the major premise of the new installment to the Star Wars anthology, but the trailers reveal that the rebels should also deal with the Shield Gate, which is the wheel like ship hovering over the planet surrounded by X-Wing fighters, Cinema Blend reported. The giant space craft serves as a force field provider for the planet Scarif, a planet where the Empire could be building its super weapon, according to the movie's co-producer John Swartz.

Scarif is like the Star Wars version of America's Los Alamos, which is a top-secret town in the desert where the first nuclear bomb is being developed during the World War II, Entertainment Weekly reported. Scarif is a tropical country that is very important to the Empire, which is why it is protecting it with all its might.

The trailer shows that there is a blue force field covering the entire planet, which only shows how much power the Empire is using just to protect that particular base.

Is the Empire building the Death Star in Scarif? Not necessarily. According to Swartz, just because the Death Star plays an integral role in the new Star Wars movie, doesn't mean it is connected to Scarif. He said Scarif is part of the Empire's military industrial complex and there is a lot of research going on in that planet, but it doesn't necessarily mean the Death Star is there. Fans have to find out for themselves as the movie is set for release on December 16.
