‘The Simpsons’ Al Jean Says There’s Only One Thing the Show Will Never Do And That’s....
ByDivorce. This is perhaps the only thing that "The Simpsons" hasn't done yet. Now in its 28th season will fans ever see Homer and Marge break up?
The answer is a definite "no," as the show's executive producer Al Jean said that a divorce between Homer and Marge is the only thing that the show runners will never do, Esquire reported. Jean said that the major thing about "The Simpsons" that keeps fans wanting for more is how much Homer and Marge love each other. He said they will keep the template, which means they will never age and they will never break up.
Jean talked about how they first started and even didn't expect that the show would last this long. Now, the show has recently been renewed for two more seasons. This makes "The Simpsons" the longest-running scripted TV show.
To celebrate this length, FXX is airing the first 600 episodes of the show starting noon on Thanksgiving Day, AdWeek reported. "The Simpsons 600 Marathon" will last for 13 days or 300 hours worth of non-stop viewing. The show will run from November 24 to December 7.
The showrunners have released a clever marketing promotion with billboards all over the city. These billboards have Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart, and Maggie Simpsons looking like the traditional food during Thanksgiving Day.
Another important issue that Jean shed light on is how they predicted that Donald Trump would win the presidential race. He said that the logical explanation is when Trump talked about running for president back in 2000, so they made a satire about that.
He said that it's a bit sad that something they meant as a joke became true. Another thing they predicted is how Germany would win the World Cup. They just thought it would be funny if Brazil would lose. But it came out true.
