The Portland-based developer has dropped a bombshell when it announced that it will push the release date back from December 2017 to the second quarter of 2018. The developer is said to be aiming for a simultaneous release on all gaming platforms.

The big announcement has been made via the game's Kickstarter page that the upcoming remake of the critically acclaimed 1990s first-person shooter "System Shock" will now launch much later than originally expected. Developer Nightdive Studios has been working hard on getting the System Shock remake completed by December 2017.

The crowdfunding platform Kickstarter has been updated this evening and now it reveals that the System Shock Remake won't make it out until the second quarter of 2018. This mean that there's a delay of up to six months after the original target date.

In its monthly update to its Kickstarter backers, the game developer provided some answers as part of an FAQ. This also includes the question of when the game will be released.

According to GameSpot, Nightdive is currently working on a "vertical slice" of the game. The works on the vertical slice of the game also mean that it will have some awesome stuff to show in the coming months.

Earlier this year, Nightdive Studios has released a pre-alpha demo to give a taste of what to expect from the upcoming System Shock Remake.
