Hailee Steinfeld stars in "The Edge of Seventeen," an honest teenage movie that is said to be relatable, timeless and a future classic. Moreover, the movie has received excellent ratings and may even be a contender for movie awards. The movie is now showing in various theaters.

"The Edge of Seventeen" may be your typical coming-of-age movie, where the protagonist is an awkward and angst-ridden girl like Nadine played by Hailee Steinfeld. However, movie critics praised the movie, saying it is an honest portrayal of a character that anybody who is and have been a teenager can easily relate to.

Nadine never quite fit in since she was young and more so, when she became a teenager. Her high school life was only bearable because of her one and only friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson). However, her world is shattered after finding out that Krista is dating her popular older brother Darian (Blake Jenner).

The beleaguered teen turns to her history teacher (Woody Harrelson) for help and a new friend played by newcomer Hayden Szeto, who is said to be a scene stealer in the movie according to ComingSoon.Net. Steinfeld's performance may not be as intense as her Oscar-winning role in "True Grit," but she effuses honesty and sincerity that moviegoers would easily relate and fall in love with her character.

The movie was featured in the Toronto International Film Festival and was well received by viewers and critics alike as reported by the Hollywood Reporter. Producer James L. Brook who is responsible for "The Edge of Seventeen" even pushed back the movie's release date from September to November in consideration of the awards, showing full confidence on the merits of his newest project.

Brooks is an Academy Award winner, more known for producing the "The Simpsons," "As Good As It Gets," "Jerry Maguire," and "Terms of Endearment." He teams up with first time director Kelly Fremon Craig who has penned the script for the "Post Grad" in 2009. Craig in "The Edge of Seventeen" presents a no-gimmick, no frills kind-of-movie, which is what critics say its greatest strength.
