Amazon Music Unlimited upgrades and offers family plan to subscribers at $14.99 per month. This is made available to both prime and non-prime subscribers. It also lets up to six people share in the same account, to which they are allowed to choose their own recommendations. Prime members alone are given at least $30 discount for a yearly plan option of $149.
Music Unlimited was launched in October and offered four individual monthly plans, Apple Insider reported. It offered $9.99 for the general public; $7.99 for prime members; and $3.99 for Echo Dot, Tap, or Echo owners.
Their plans all come with a trial period of 30 days. Apple however offers a 90-day trial period, whereas Spotify is free for all with an option to remove all the pesky ads and upgrade to offline downloading if subscribers upgrade to their Premium plan.
Amazon simply missed an opportunity to boost its Prime subscriptions, Tech Crunch reported. They didn't offer a discount to their top-tiered plan. If they did cut a dollar or two, it would've been a compelling selling point for the company and they would certainly beat competition.
The absolute benefit that subscribers can reap from the new upgraded plan is they can choose to pay the annual service, which is at $12.42 a year. But of course, people prefer to pay on monthly basis because it's more affordable that way.
Amazon's offer is basically the same with Spotify and Apple with the exception that allows Prime subscribers to take advantage of their Alexa voice assistant. While Apple lets subscribers control their Apple music through the Apple Watch, Amazon has Alexa, which brings a unique music streaming experience.
Alexa will make the subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited so much fun. Subscribers can ask Alexa to curate music like "the most popular rock from the 70's". One can even ask Alexa to pull up a band or a playlist according to whatever mood is appropriate at the moment.
