The Whisperer War that is happening in "The Walking Dead" comic book has sparked theory of a possible cross over between the main TV series and its spin-off "Fear The Walking Dead."
The latest in the comic book has Rick's group facing a formidable enemy called The Whisperers. These are humans who cover themselves with zombie guts, which allows them to walk among the Walkers. This tactic was quickly developed by Fear the Walking Dead's Nick Clark early in the season.
Writer and creator Robert Kirkman teased the connection between the two zombie TV shows during the New York Comic Con, Comic Book reported. Also the comics show Eugene talking over the radio which seems like The Whisperers are close by to whoever was in the other end of the radio.
Kirkman said his statement is a wink and nudge to a possible crossover. But the series are separate and not connected, he said.
Dave Erickson, the executive producer of "Fear the Walking Dead," commented that there are no plans so far on crossing over the two separate series. He said he can't see any trackway in the comic book that would lead to a cross over and that it would be so difficult to pull off, MNR Daily reported.
Legal implications are also another big challenge when it comes to crossover between the series. The story may have one creator, but the characters of each series are owned by different companies. Kirkman made the characters of the original "The Walking Dead" in his graphic novel. However, the characters in "Fear the Walking Dead" were made especially for the AMC series spinoff.
"Fear the Walking Dead" will be on its third season after being renewed by the studios. It is expected to air once more in 2017. AMC Studios president Charlie Collier is very pleased with what Erickson and Kirkman did for the TV series.
Collier described the events in the spinoff as fresh, eerie, and compelling. Just like what Victor Strand observed that in order to survive a mad world, one has to embrace the madness. Collier thanked the fans who has grown to embrace the mad world.
