Just recently, Huawei unveiled the Huawei Mate 9 and the Huawei Mate 9 Porshe Design in Munich, Germany. Both units are packed with high-end features as well as sporting well known German brands.

A day after the unveiling of the two new Huawei flagship smartphones in Germany talks circulated of another Mate 9 model in the works. The Mate 9 Pro was already being talked about but was never shed light on in Munich.

At a very recent event in China, a dedicated launch was held to introduce the Huawei Mate 9 Pro. The general consensus was that the Huawei Mate 9 Pro is essentially the twin of the Porsche Design Edition without the premium price tag.

As fans were hoping for, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro packs the same 5.5-inch curved AMOLED screen in QHD resolution. It has the same Kirin 960 chipset with a choice variant of 4GB or 6GB RAM up to 128GB internal storage. It also features the second-generation Leica dual-camera set-up present in the Mate 9 and Porshe Editions. And like the Porshe Design has the fingerprint scanner located on the front, GSMArena report.

The Mate 9 Pro and the Mate 9 Porshe design shares identical specs albeit former without sporting the Porshe design aesthetics shaving off hundreds of dollars onto its price tag. The price of the Huawei Mate 9 Pro starts at $686 for the 4GB RAM, 64GB storage. The 6GB RAM, 128GB storage combo is at $775, according to Phandroid.

For now, the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro is only available for order in China in gold, rose gold, gray, and silver colors. No details yet about its international release. The Mate 9 Porsche Design will be available beginning December 15.
