Intel finally released its latest data center SSD series, the Intel DC P3100 SSD Series, which will deliver data security and high-performance in a budget price specifically designed and tested for data center usage models.

Intel's latest iteration for data centers DC P3100 SSD Series is part of the 3D NAND SSD Family that is specifically designed for data centers. The new DC series offers sequential read and write performance of up to 1,800MB/s and 175MB/s with random 4K performance peaking at 114K IOPS for read and 10K IOPS for write, according to Intel. It sports a MTBF of 1.6 million hours and endurance rating of up to 580TBW for the 1TB version.

Inside Intel's first 3D NAND TLC-Based M.2 form factor SSD hardware is a PCIe 3.0x4 NVme interface. The unit is a single-sided M.2 form factor that Intel says will provide data centers the flexibility to deliver higher density storage solutions and its single-sided design also allows for more space allocation for other server components critical to the system, University Herald has learned.

In Intel's website, a product brief on the SSD DC P3100 Series states: "The Intel® SSD DC P3100 Series delivers ideal endurance and performance for very read-intensive workloads in the data center. With the space-saving advantages delivered by the M.2 form factor and the drive's superior power efficiency, data centers can expect to see total cost of ownership benefits with the DC P3100. Validated for the most common data center environments - including boot, search indexing, edge caching and web hosting - the DC P3100 meets value-based needs. The DC P3100 Series is part of the Intel® 3D NAND SSD family of products."

Intel manufactured the DC P3100 as an alternative for companies looking to save costs while maintaining data security and high-performance. The device will be beneficial to data centers as it is designed for read-centric workloads, such as boot drives, web hosting, search indexing, and edge caching.

Key specifications for the P3100 include a choice capacity of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Sequential Read-Write (MB/s) 1,800/175, Random Read-Write (IOPS) 114K/10K. Mean-Time-Between-Failures (MTBF) is rated at 1.6 million hours. AFR 0.73 percent and operating temperature 0⁰ C to 70⁰ C.

The DC P3100 is backed by Intel's five-year limited warranty, which includes Intel's world-class post sales customer support.
