Hugo Schwyzer, Pasadena City College's (PCC) "porn professor" has decided to resign, closing an active investigation conducted by the school into his teaching ethics.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that PCC officials announced they had received and accepted Schwyzer's resignation. The professor had already inspired protests for inviting porn stars to speak at his classes, but the school launched an investigation following his admission to sleeping with several of his students while he was employed by the school.

Earlier this year, Schwyzer invited porn actor James Deen to attend one of his "Navigating Pornography" classes.

The professor's admission to having sex with his former students came after one of them alleged claims of an affair online and under a pseudonym. Schwyzer confirmed the claims and urged anyone who had been harassing the girl to stop. Since his admission, the professor admitted himself to psychiatric hospital for the fifth time in the year and was placed by PCC on medical leave.

Last week, the Pasadena Star-News reported Schwyzer was arrested for driving under the influence when his car struck another in San Benito County. He was later charged with a felony DUI and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 5 and implied he would do little to fight for his innocence his case.

"I am at this time reluctant to allow a lawyer to plea bargain anything down," Schwyzer wrote. "When a man drives under the influence and hurts someone, he should pay the penalty."

Schwyzer announced he would be deactivating his blog, entering again into a partial hospitalization program and handing in his driver's license. He also said he would seek a defense attorney, despite his "reluctance" to defend himself in court.

Schwyzer does not plan to teach again and will attempt disability retirement starting Jan. 1 for mental sickness.
