‘Valerian’ Trailer Premiere: Blonde Bombshell Rihanna, Galactic Warrior Cara Delevingne; Must Watch [VIDEO]
ByThe movie "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" just released its first trailer featuring Dane DeHaan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline. Also in the trailer is a few seconds frame showing Rihanna as a blond bombshell, which is one of a few personas that the singer and songwriter will supposedly play.
A first look on "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" offers viewers a visual delight of imaginary worlds and fictional space creatures. The movie is based on the 1960s Gallic comic series titled "Valerian and Laureline" and brought to the big screen by director Luc Besson of "Lucy" and "Fith Element" fame.
Valerian and Laureline are two peace-keeping government operatives. Their new mission is to investigate a galactic empire, which is being threatened with extinction. As part of their duties, they are forced to fight and ultimately to survive.
"Valerian and the City of a Thousands Planets" is not just sword fighting and gun blasting. The movie also features the love-hate relationship between the two lead characters as reported in Hollywood Life.
There will always be sexual tension between the two as intimated in a few seconds beach scene. Laureline can also be seen punching Valerian in the face when he attempted to kiss her.
"Valerian" is the first live-action movie of Rihanna after her stint in the stage play "Annie" back in 2014. Rihanna has been specially handpicked by Besson, saying that her voice, smile, looks and attitude on set make her perfect for the role according to Entertainment Weekly.
As to what Rihanna's specific role is, Besson is making no further announcement, but rumors say that she will play a stripper. The singer songwriter's appearance in the movie is very short, around 20 minutes or more. However, Besson has already remarked that Rihanna is his first wish, which may indicate that her role is crucial to the story.
Other cast members include Clive Owen, John Goodman and Ethan Hawke. "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" will hit theaters on July 21, 2017.
