"The Divergent Series: Ascendant" will not be brought to big screen on June 2017 anymore. The movie is said to incorporate a new script that may come in the form of a TV series. Furthermore, some of the shows' stars are allegedly threatening to back out of the film.

Rumor has it that Theo James and Shailene Woodley will no longer join the cast of "The Divergent Series: Ascendant." In addition, even Miles Teller may no longer play his character Peter in the fourth and final movie in "The Divergent" franchise as well, E-Online reported.

Moreover, the final installment of the Veronica Roth novel series adaptation film is also rumored to skip its scheduled release next year. Apparently, there may have been some major changes to the upcoming movie's script. Rumor has it that the new script will change the storyline affecting Four and Tris. Additionally, "The Divergent" may even adapt a TV series format.

On that note, Miles Teller revealed that he had signed up for the project as a movie and not as a TV series. It is speculated that Teller will not be joining "The Divergent Series: Ascendant". In addition, Woodley allegedly got angry that it was the media who informed her about the decision. Apparently, the actress wanted to be informed personally about such changes to the film.

Meanwhile, Lionsgate is also rumored to wrap up "The Divergent Series" with a spin-off series instead. It is said that instead of screening the movie in theaters next year, Lionsgate may opt to show the film series on the small screen with negotiations already in the early stages, Variety reported. Apparently, the change in strategy was based on the "Allegiant" which stumbled when it was shown in theatres in spring.

"The Divergent" films previously garnered box office hits. However, the most recent "Allegiant" failed to gain the same success. While the studio has not yet finalized its plans, Woodley was also noted saying that while the studio may have changed their mind and their strategy, she is unwilling to reprise the role in a television show but thought of ending the science fiction on the big screen as what she has signed up for.
