James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is now is finally coming and on its way to the big screen. Produced by Marvel Studios, the film is the fifteenth film under the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a sequel to the 2014 blockbuster superhero film, the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Written and directed by James Gunn, the upcoming film will feature a power cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Dave Bautista. Set two months after the 2014 film, the Guardians team travel throughout the universe while struggling to keep their newfound family together. The Guardians team will also help Chris Pratt (Peter Quill) learn more about his past and true parentage.
Marvel also confirmed that actor Kurt Russell had joined the Guardians cast for a prominent role, along with Elizabeth Debicki and Chris Sullivan.
In addition to the second film, James Dunn also hinted that there is a potential third film. However, he said that he is still unsure if he would be involved in the third Guardian film.
With all of the hype and buzz surrounding the upcoming film, Marvel remains tight-lipped about the plot to avoid any leaks or spoilers. However, reports suggest that the plot involves something about a mysterious orb and that the team will be facing a whole new celestial adversary. Some speculate that Peter Quill will finally reunite with his long-lost father. Whether it's is good or not is yet to be known.
The Guardians of the Galaxy 2 teaser was first revealed at San Diego Comic-Con International 2016, with director James Dunn leading the film introduction.The film began principal photography in Feb. 2016 at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Georgia and concluded in June 2016.
The Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to be released in the North America on May 5, 2017. The United Kingdom will get an earlier premiere since it will release on April 28, 2017. The film will be released in 3D and IMAX.
