The GoPro Hero 5 cameras recently hit the market packed with updated features that include water resistance and imaging specs. Both models come packed with USB-C socket, voice control and are cloud-enabled. However, the Hero 5 Black comes with a new 2-inch touchscreen.

The GoPro Hero 5 models can also capture 4K videos with image stabilization, voice-activated control and GPS. In terms of design and dimensions, both models are small and compact but the 38 x 38 x 36 mm ( 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.4 in) and 73g (2.6oz) Hero 5 Black is significantly larger as it includes the all-new 2 inch touchscreen. This feature is said to make the Hero 5 Black user-friendly for first-time GoPro users than the Hero 5 Session.

GoPro Hero 5 Black sports 1,220mAh rechargeable Li-ion removable battery, three control buttons and a small front-facing LCD panel. On the other hand, the 62 x 44 x 24 mm (2.4 x 1.7 x 1 in) and 118g (4.2 oz) Hero 5 Session is said to be more versatile for mounting.

The GoPro Hero 5 Black second variant is packed with 1,000mAh non-removable battery, two control buttons and a small but trickier LCD at the front. On the contrary, both models may be controlled wirelessly via a smartphone app. The Hero 5 Black costs $399 while the Hero 5 Session costs $299, Forbes reported.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi also launched the Yi 4k Action camera boasting an Ambarella chipset and Sony IMX377 12MP camera with the capacity to shoot time-lapse videos as well as 4k videos at 20 to 120fps. On the other hand, the GoPro Hero 5 cameras with Snapdragon 800 chipset also offer 4k video capabilities that can be boost up to 8k at 30 to 60fps. Xiaomi packed their camera with 1,200mAh battery while GoPro came with only 1,160mAh, Trusted Reviews reported.

The GoPro Hero 5 was also noted with electronic stabilization. It should be noted that the Yi 4K lacks the waterproof feature that the Hero 5 models have.
