During Apple's event last Oct. 27, Apple announced that they have teamed up with LG Electronics in creating a 4K and 5K UltraFine Displays that were designed to work with Apple's new 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pro's.

The two new LG displays use LG's new UltraFine technology that is employed in their 27-inch 5K display and the 21.5-inch 4K display. According to LG Electronics, the displays are ideal for creating an expanded workspace in the home or office and a perfect complement for MacBook and MacBook Pro users.

27-inch UltraFine 5K Monitor with Thunderbolt 3

The UltraFine 5K display features a 5120 x 2880 resolution and a density of 218 pixels per inch (ppi) capable of P3 wide color gamut with IPS for any angle viewing with minimal color shift and loss. It is equipped with Thunderbolt 3, can multistream 5K video, audio, and data on a single cable, and charges your MacBook Pro at the same time with up to 85W of power.

The UltraFine 5K display is outfitted with three downstream USB Type-C ports at the back of the display. The unit also comes equipped with built-in stereo speakers, a front-facing camera, and microphone array. The UltraFine 5K display, however, is only compatible with the new MacBook Pro that has Thunderbolt 3 ports. Brightness and volume controls are MacOS integrated eliminating the need of physical buttons on the display.

21.5-Inch UltraFine 4K Monitor

The smaller 4K display features a 4096 x 2304 resolution and a density of 219 ppi also capable of P3 spectrum and also IPS equipped for wide viewing angles. The unit also comes with built-in stereo speakers. The UltraFine 4K is equipped with three downstream USB Type-C ports for video, data, and power. Same with its bigger sibling MacOS integration allows the unit's brightness and volume to be controlled by the OS.

The LG 21.5-inch UltraFine 4K display will be shipping November for $699.95 and the LG 27-inch UltraFine 5K will be available in December for $1,299.95, according to Forbes. More information about the displays is available at www.apple.com.
