Weekly sales figures show that the virtual reality head-mounted display PlayStation VR sold more than 50,000 over the course of its debut week in its home market of Japan. PlayStation VR outsold its parent unit PS4, which garnered about 30,154 sales for the week.

As the PlayStation VR was raking up about 51,644 sales, the device was considered to be the best-selling video game device in the region from Oct. 10 to 16. Given that PSVR was launched on Oct. 13, it means that Sony's virtual reality headset pulled off these sales in just four days, according to 4Gamer.

It's a huge encouragement for the Japanese tech company Sony, as PlayStation VR suggests a faster rate of sales compared to premium PC VR devices such as HTC Vive. Recent reports suggest that the Vive virtual reality headset has sold 140,000 units so far, which means PSVR has achieved a third of this in just a single territory.

On the other hand, the Creative Director at Three Fields Entertainment, Alex Ward, just made known their latest game, dubbed as "Lethal VR." The video game gives players the chance to test their shooting and throwing skills in a virtual training environment. A player will step into the shoes of an FBI Recruit and recreate scenes from a few classic movies.

Ward stated that as developers, the arrival of PlayStation VR inspired them to think about both the stories they could tell and the worlds they could now allow a player to step right into. They looked at some of the early demos and it sets, them thinking about the new types of games and experiences they wanted to create for PlayStation fans all over the world, PlayStation reported.

Furthermore, the title is expected to drop for the PS VR sometime before 2016 ends. The studio did not pitch in any price point at the moment.
