‘World of Warcraft' News & Update: Game Director Tom Chilton Is Leaving MMO Team To Lead Blizzard's Unspecified Project [VIDEO]
By"World of Warcraft" game director Tom Chilton made it known to the public that he's stepping down from the MMO team. In a forum post on Battle.net, Chilton said that while he's leaving the multiplayer online role-playing game, he will still be working at Blizzard to lead an unspecified project.
While the game director will be off to another direction, current lead game designer Ion Hazzikostas will take over Chilton's previous position. Chilton wrote on the forum post that his personal journey working on "World of Warcraft" as Game Director has come to an end, but his journey with Blizzard is not. He made it known that he's still collaborating with the video game company, but he will be focusing on another project, according to MMO RPG.
Chilton also stated that he knows that "World of Warcraft" will be in great hands with Hazzikostas at the helm. Hazzikostas has been an integral part of the massively multiplayer online (MMO) team for more than eight years, and has contributed so many aspects of the video game's development. He also has an amazing crew at his side, which is the same epic team that brought video gamers all the content they are enjoying in "Legion," PC Gamer has learned.
Meanwhile, as for "World of Warcraft: Legion," Chilton stated that the sixth expansion has been more than just another expansion for him. He said that it's the culmination of more than a decade of collaborating with one of the best development teams he has ever had the pleasure to be a part of.
Anyway, it's unclear whether the former game director is moving to an existing Blizzard project or an entirely new one.
