In the world of academia, it is important for students to find a school that suits them, but the same goes for faculty and, as for the latter, no school is better than Auburn University.
CareerBliss ranked its ten happiest institutions of higher education to work for and Auburn ranked highest despite not having the best average annual salary.
"Our unique data offers students and faculty a chance to see what factors drive happiness at work within the university system," says Heidi Golledge, CEO and co-founder of CareerBliss. "CareerBliss recognizes those universities that excel in providing a happy work culture."
The job website used its own point system to determine a school's overall score with the highest being five. It based its rankings on reviews from thousands of schools nationwide and took feedback directly from faculty and other employees.
The pros and cons among professors did not have anything to do with salary or benefits, but rather centered around research. Whether or not a school is a good environment for research plays an important role to professors.
Cons for non-teaching employees seemed mostly to be with any lack of room for advancement, while pros often were associated with good working environments and a chance to be promoted.
