Tesla Drops The Most Affordable Electric SUV From Its Lineup, Vehicle Disappeared From The Company's Website Without Explanation [VIDEO]
ByAfter Tesla introduced the Model X 60D three months ago, the American automaker has cut off the electric SUV from its lineup. Tesla's Model X 60D had a lower driving range compared to other Model Xs, but the vehicle has a sensible price of about $74,000.
The Model X 60D was the automaker's cheapest electric SUV to date. The range of Model X 60D was only about 200 miles, but if a person felt the need to add more range, that person could unlock additional battery capacity for $9,500. Tesla's Model S featured the same setup, and while the Model X 60D disappeared into thin air, the sedan variant is still up for grabs.
As the 60D version of Tesla's electric crossover is nowhere in sight, that leaves car enthusiasts the 75D as their only choice. Car enthusiasts now have to spend $85,500 before tax credits to own one of those falcon wing doors, or about $11,500 more than they did while the 60D was around, Engadget reported.
A Tesla spokesperson stated that their product lineup now better serves the needs and desires of people looking for a longer range all-electric SUV. Since it seems that the Model X 60D was a very slow seller, the automotive company found it more sensible to make the 75D its entry-level offering, CNET reported.
However, if a person doesn't want falcon doors that the Model X 60D provides, a person can still get the least expensive Model S 60 with its 219-mile range that's still up for grabs for $67,200.
Anyway, Tesla is set for a press conference on Oct. 17, but has not hinted at what will be discussed at the event. Perhaps they will make an explanation of the reorganized Model X lineup, based on the report of Cars.
