Three Atlanta companies nabbed the top spots as having the best internship programs in the U.S. Georgia college students do not need to look far for a good internship program.
Biz Journals reported that Atlanta companies Mercedes-Benz USA LLC, The Coca-Cola Co. and The Home Depot Inc. got the top ranks for their internship programs. This is according to a report by Vault.com.
Mercedes-Benz and Coca-Cola were ranked 22nd and 25th, respectively, on the Most Prestigious Internship Programs list. Google, Apple, Goldman Sachs & Co., Facebook and J.P. Morgan got the top five spots.
Other companies on the Most Prestigious Internship Programs list are Microsoft, Elon Musk's Tesla Motors, Morgan Stanley, The Walt Disney Company and Twitter. The Home Depot Inc.,on the other hand, ranked 45 on the Top 50 Overall Internships.
"As everyone knows, an internship is essential to college students looking to advance their careers in a chosen industry," Tara McCaffrey, Vault.com's vice president of marketing, said. "Companies are looking to recruit top talent before they graduate college and are using internships as the best way to assess potential employees."
"At the same time, college students view internships as the best way to test drive their chosen career path," she added. "These rankings offer students an opportunity to determine which companies are the best fit for their career goals."
In Mercedes-Benz's official website, the company offers internships with competitive pay where interns gain relevant work experience. However, the program has no educational credit.
Coca-Cola's internship program allows interns to be exposed to real projects and challenges. There are different types of interns in the company: strategic, seasonal, academic, co-op, management trainees as well as summer job positions.
Home Depot offers paid internships in various business areas such as Merchandising, Marketing, Dot Com, IT, Finance, Supply Chain, Store Operations, Legal and HR. There are several vacancies for its Atlanta, GA office.
