‘Mafia 3’ News & Update: Patch Lets Game Runs At 30 FPS On PC, Confronts Players With The Horror Of Racism [VIDEO]
ByFor the first time in six years, fans of the action-adventure video game now have a new entry in the series to play, as "Mafia III" launches on Xbox One, as well as on PlayStation 4 and PC. There was some tough news for PC players at first, but, publisher 2K Games confirmed that the video game would be capped at 30fps at launch.
Now, the video game company 2K claimed that "Mafia III" has a patch in the works which includes 30, 60, and unlimited fps options that can be found in the game's video menu. There are other improvements of the action-adventure video game for the PC version also included in this update.
The update of "Mafia 3" is now in testing. If everything goes to plan, the PC patch of the game will be up for grabs this weekend, CNET reported.
The official Mafia 3 website acknowledges that they know how important having options that best suit a person's PC performance capabilities are. The team has been working hard to ensure that the performance of "Mafia 3" is consistent across all platforms, and right now the video game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second. The company is currently working on an update for PC that will give video gamers the option to play Mafia III at higher frame rates.
However, the first thing a player sees after pressing the start button in "Mafia 3" is a long message from the game development company, Hangar 13. It's a shocker to start the game, but it sets the player's attitude for the experience to come, according to Polygon.
The message reads Mafia 3 takes place in a fictionalized version of the American South in 1968. They sought to create an authentic and immersive experience for the gamers that captures this very turbulent time and place, which includes depictions of racism.
