Back in 2007, Disney introduced us to Giselle, the only princess who is both an animation and in live-action, and she is set to come back soon.
Nine years have passed since the first film and "Enchanted" is finally coming back to the screen. With a working title of "Disenchanted," the film takes place 10 years after Giselle (Amy Adams) and Robert (Patrick Dempsey) stay in Manhattan while Prince Edward (James Marsden) and Nancy (Idina Menzel) goes back to Andalasia and get married.
The original made $340.5 million worldwide and was directed by Kevin Lima as written by Bill Kelly.
Disney says they would want to start filming by summer of 2017 though no confirmation was given if the project is already in the works. No information was also available if it's already on the development slate according to a report from USA Today.
However, the sequel as reported will have a new director in Adam Shankman ("Rock of Ages, Hairspray"). He confirmed in a tweet that "it's true."
It is not clear if all the stars of the first movie will make a comeback, but if Amy Adams would have anything to say about it to E! she would love to reprise Giselle. Back in 2011 Marsden was interviewed by Mark Malkin of E! News when he said if they are going to do it, they should before they are 40.
While “Enchanted” ended on a happy note, rumors have it that “Disenchanted” will focus on what went on with the characters lives in the decade since. Did Giselle find her true happiness with Robert in Manhattan? What of Nancy and Prince Edward?
From the working title itself, my guess is that everyone’s happily ever after will be put to the test in this sequel if it gets rolling come summer 2017.
