Xbox One's October 2016 update is now available for members of the Preview scheme. The update also includes new features such as the Arena on Xbox Live, Achievement Rarity and more. As the Xbox One October update adds an Arena mode for Killer Instinct, and launches a new Achievement Rarity feature, it makes big changes to group play and messaging.

Xbox gamers who unlock a rare Achievement will now be sparked off by a new animation and notification sound, and a diamond icon. Also, there's a useful new Looking for Group feature that makes it possible for video gamers to organize a gaming session up to a week in advance, according to Express.

Group Messaging has also been changed, giving players the opportunity to add individuals to the group and tweak the conversation topic.

The Arena feature will be introduced in Killer Instinct, before eventually hitting other video games. As daily tournaments and new features are coming, Microsoft wants to make eSports, regardless of skill level, more accessible to video gamers.

However, for the initial roll out of the Arena feature, it will only be accessible to Preview members through practice tournaments on Xbox One in the United States, with Microsoft planning to add up additional features, and later in October, it will diversify to the broader Preview audience, Segment Next reported.

To start competing, all gamers have to do is register on the Tournament tab in the Killer Instinct Game Hub. The tech company is really excited about the potential of Arena and eager to hear the gamer's thoughts as they evolve it and make eSports more accessible for video gamers everywhere.

These features are only available for the preview members for now, but these features will soon be up for grabs for all Xbox One owners later this year.

Anyway, this new Xbox One update was announced by the Director of Programming for the Microsoft gaming network Xbox Live, Major Nelson, via his official blog.
