‘Homeland’ Season 6: Female President Character Hints Hillary Clinton?; Season 8 Ending Final?
By"Homeland" may be landing for two more seasons, following the show's upcoming season 6, but it appears to be the end. Reports indicate that the show bosses have announced that the series will end by season 8.
Executive producer and also showrunner Alex Gansa confirmed that his team are now discussing to write season 8 as the last chapter. According to reports, the fans are not sure how to feel about a life without Carrie Mathison.
The Showtime's sixth season will be returning in January, after Carrie finds herself in New York to work for a foundation that provides aid to Muslim Americans. "Homeland's" sixth season features a female president. However, all hopes may not be lost, as Gansa also confirmed that ending the show would actually depend on the bosses of "Showtime", who are believed to have the final say about the future of "Homeland" after season 8, Digital Spy reported.
Nevertheless, if Gansa plans on ending the series, "Showtime" is expected to support this decision. He also added that one of his dreams is to film one of the next couple of seasons in Israel, most likely the eight, to make "Homeland" one of the most internationally located shows the history of TV. But then again, if Gansa is planning on ending the series anyway, it's likely Showtime will support the decision...
"Homeland" will return to "Showtime" on Jan. 15, 2017 at 9 p.m. and airs on channel 4 in the UK. Meanwhile, "Homeland" has already filmed a season in Germany and another in South Africa, fulfilling Gansa's dream of filming one of the seasons in a different location. With that, reports indicate that it would let the show come full circle, since it started as an adaptation of an Israeli drama entitled "Prisoners of War," Deadline reported.
