Samsung has launched the successor to last year's Galalxy On7 smartphone in China. Dubbed Samsung Galaxy On7 (2016), the smartphone is now up for grabs on the company's China site for CNY 1,599 which translated into $240 at current exchange rates.

Aside from launching the Galaxy On7 (2016), the South Korean handset maker also teased the Galaxy On5 (2016) phone in the company listing; however, the company remained mum regarding its specs, pricing or availability. Here's what we know about the Galaxy On7 (2016).

The Galaxy On 7 (2016 ) sports a metal design, a mammoth 5.5-inch screen size with 1080x1920 pixels full-HD TFT display and a 13MP primary camera equipped with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture that supports Full-HD video recording 30fps (frames per second), and an 8MP front shooter.

The smartphone packs a robust 3300mAh battery that supports fast charging, and is powered by 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory (expandable up to 256GB), IndiaToday reported.

As far as connectivity option is concerned, the handset supports GPS, Bluetooth v 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPRS/ EDGE, and 4G LTE. In addition, the Galaxy On7 (2016) comes with Samsung's Knox security suite of apps.

Measuring 151.7 x 75 x 8mm, the smartphone weighs 167g. Much to the dismay of those keen on buying Android 7.1 Nougat-run Galaxy smartphones, the 2016 edition of Galaxy On7 runs the older Android OS, Android Marshmallow.

Moreover, it sports a home button-embedded fingerprint sensor. The color options include gold, pink and black, GSM Arena reported.
