'World of Warcraft' News: Lead Designer, Rob Pardo Moves on to Start his Own Studio
ByRob Pardo was initially working with Battle.net forums as the Blizzard's chief creative officer; a role that he had held for 17 years. But as we all know, it gets to a point in life when you have to move on with your life and step-up your career to the next level; this is exactly what Rob Pardo did, he moved on the 3rd of July 2014.
Often times when you follow your heart, it will lead you to unknown paths and for Rob he stepped up without a clear idea of where he was heading. Fortunately, he decided to have a retreat with his family as he also worked on some projects at home.
Having spent adequate time with his family, Rob decided to pursue his calling in the gaming realm. The next role that he held was that of a creative advisor with the Unity company which published the Unity game engine. As reported in an article by Venture Beat, the uncertainty that Rob had left with from Blizzard was replaced by the desire to step-up.
Rob decided to challenge himself in a greater way by coming back to the gaming sector and starting his own studio from the ground-up. He named the studio Bonfire and he works in a team of five developers him included.
The company has been reported to be in the formation stages and that implies that it's yet to start developing games. Rob is spending most of his time hiring new employees. The company has been reported to have raised $25 million in funding. Bonfire intends to establish itself to a point where it can develop more appealing and great games.
In a statement reported by the New York Times, Rob expressed his urge in developing meaningful relationships with his colleagues and being proactively involved in the daily activities. He hopes that this will be a contrast to his previous role where most of the things he did were very shallow and he lacked a chance to interact with his colleagues and be involved at a deeper level.
