Matthew McConaughey has been around different roles this year. In the "Sea of Trees", McConaughey plays a depressed man in a Japanese forest. In this new film, called "Gold", Matthew McConaughey assumes the role of a balding prospector named Kenny Wells. In this movie, McConaughey also touches a tiger, Thrillist reported.
As seen in the trailer, the plot of the movie revolves around Kenny Wells' discovery of a huge gold deposit in an Indonesian jungle. The find was said to the biggest find of the decade. What happens after he found the gold becomes interesting and it is what the story is about, USA Today reported.
The official synopsis of the film also describes the plot of "Gold". According to the synopsis, the story is about the pursuit of the American dream which is to discover gold. Here, gold prospector Kenny Wells is desperated for a break. So, he teams up with an equally enthusiastic geologist to set off on a journey and find gold in the middle of an Indonesian jungle. While getting the gold was hard, keeping it was harder. It was also noted that the film was inspired by a true story.
Co-starring with Matthew McConaughey are Golden Globe nominees Edgar Ramirez and Bryce Dallas Howard. The movie was directed by Oscar winner Stephen Gaghan. "Gold" was wrote by Patrick Massett and John Zinman.
The trailer itself was very well cut and is packed with shots worth noting. The story's setting was between 80s and 90s. By the looks of the trailer, this could be a good entry where McConaughey gets another awards after bringing home an Oscar for "Dallas Buyers Club". In addition to "Gold", McConaughey also starred this year in "The Sea of Trees" and "Free State of Jones". "Gold" will hit the theatres on Christmas Day 2016.
