While gadget freaks were waiting with bated breath for Samsung to take the wraps off its much anticipated Galaxy Tab S3 at the IFA 2016 Berlin event, however that did not happen. In fact, the South Korean tech firm remained tight-lipped about the next gen tablet. This has stirred conversations among tech enthusiasts about possible Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 release date, specifications and price details.

Samsung's decision to keep the widely-anticipated device under wraps during the five-day event is a bit surprising as the company's Colombian website confirmed that Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 would be unveiled in Berlin, Germany on Friday, September 2 at an annual IFA event, according to reports on GSM Arena.

Samsung's Tab S series encompass some of the most budget-friendly, high performance tablets consumers can buy.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Specs & Features

If recently surfaced reports are anything to go by, the purported tablet will be rolled out in two variants - one with 9.7-inch screen and the other sporting an 8-inch display. Moreover, the Galaxy Tab S3 will pack a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor with 3GB of RAM, a robust 4,000 mAh battery, and 32GB to 64GB of internal storage capacity, Christian Daily reported.

Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is said to sport an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front snapper for the selfie-addicts. The next gen tablet is expected to run Google's latest Android OS, Android 7.0 Nougat. The tablet will come pre-loaded with an array of useful apps such as Google Browser, Android Play, Now on Tap, and the recently augmented Doze. The device is expected to be thinner and lighter as compared to its precursors.

Not too long ago, a popular leaker posted photo of the Galaxy Tab S3. The picture was reportedly obtained from an unknown source and it showed the tablet with identical home button at the bottom of the front of the screen. The device seemed to bear a striking resemblance to the Galaxy Tab S2.

Avid Samsung fans did not approve of the picture as genuine and dubbed it fake citing the fact that the gadget's back button was way too close to the home button. In fact, the tipster later confirmed that the picture was not of Galaxy Tab S3 but Tab A 10.1.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Price

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, 32GB variant is expected to come with a price tag of $399, with prices going higher for other storage versions, according to VineReport.

In other news, Samsung's first-gen Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is slated to get updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, TechTimes reported.

As a result of the software update, the tablet that hit the store shelves back in 2014 now gets an upgrade from Android 5.0.2 Lollipop to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

The said update comes more than a year after the Wi-Fi variant of the device received the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update in April a couple of years back.

Here's how to check if your Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Tab SM-T700 has received the update: Go to Settings> About Device> Software Update> Check for Updates.

Make sure you have enough memory and at least 50 percent battery charge, and more importantly access to a stable Wi-Fi connection before downloading the update.
