The spin-off company of Samsung, Welt, has started a Kickstarter campaign to fund the launch of the Welt smart belt. The wellness belt tracks key health data, waistline, eating habits, and provides tips and warnings for a person's health.

Welt is a healthcare tech company that aims to make people healthier. The tech company started as a team at Samsung Electronics, and spun-off to become a newly established business.

For $119 ($69 or $99 if purchased early) a person will get a subtle wearable. The Classic and Premium models, which are higher-priced, are mainly up the style quotient. Considering the crowdfunding run will be successful, a person should get their Welt smart belt as early as January, just in time to shed weight after the holiday season, according to Engadget.

The Welt smart belt, which is short for wellness and belt, will blend fashion and fitness with a waistline tracker as an indicator of a person's health. The Welt smart belt functions as a belt, but it includes a magnetic sensor attached in the buckle.

Its main objective is to help individuals make healthier choices by keeping a mark on the size of their waistline, time spent sitting, steps taken and even eating habits, based on the report of ZDNet.

By just syncing thru Bluetooth 4.1 to an iOS or an Android device, the Welt companion app will then present the information to the user. But rather than bombarding the users with all the nitty-gritty details, the company has made an effort to trim down the data, which can be displayed on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, New Atlas reported.

The healthcare tech company claimed that the belt is a battery-wise, in just a single charge, the belt will last up to 20 days. Once the battery is depleted, it can be charged with a micro USB, through a port at the bottom of the buckle.
