Smartphone apps are occupying an increasingly larger percentage of a person's time. A new report made it known that a massive number of Americans are spending more than half of their time online on their smartphone apps.

The global media measurement and analytics company, comScore, revealed that smartphone apps took up more than 50 percent of the time of online users in the United States.

The statistics given by the media analytics company was for the month of July and August, in which the huge facts and figures was the first time ever, Tech Times reported.

In a blog post made by the media analytics company comScore, the company stated that while the smartphone app has been the most important means of communication of the internet for quite some time, growing its share to a point where it now eclipses all other digital media platforms combined speaks to just how central to the people's lives the smartphone has become.

The statistics from comScore may not be surprising, considering the convenience factor of a smartphone, in which the device is constantly with the consumers.

As the smartphone displays, as well as 4G LTE networks offering up faster speeds are rapidly increasing, a person's smartphone is no longer necessary to trade for a tablet or desktop when they want to stream music, get directions, check email, etc., based on the report of Silicon Angle.

But, this report is also measured by how many people utilized their smartphones against engaging on a tablet or switching over to a PC, according to PC Mag.

Anyway, the top apps that dominated smartphone users' time are mainly from the major league companies like Facebook and Google. But the leading apps include Facebook, Facebook Messenger, YouTube, Google Maps as well as Google Search and Pokémon GO.
