LSU head football coach Les Miles took the stage Thursday for SEC media days and informed reporters that Jeremy Hill's will remain on indefinite suspension, ESPN reported.
Hill plead guilty last Friday to a misdemeanor charge of simple battery in a bar fight incident in late April. Following the arrest and the charge, Miles announced Hill would be suspended indefinitely and barred from team activities.
"Jeremy Hill has a legal entanglement," Miles told reporters Thursday. "At this point in time he remains indefinitely suspended. I have a track record with really disciplining my team. We go through the same process that all of my guys will go through. Frankly, you know, we're gathering information as we go. So he's been separated from his team and teammates for the summer."
Miles said he and his staff have visited Hill on a regular basis, but that he has not been allowed to participate in any team summer activities.
"He's not been in any team meetings, not been in any workouts," Miles said. "We've not allowed him in our facility," Miles.
Hill was already on probation for pleading guilty to carnal knowledge of juvenile in January 2012. On Friday, he received a six-month suspended sentence and two years of probation in his plea deal. He is set to have a hearing in August to determine if the bar fight violated the terms of his probation. If he is found guilty of that, he will serve jail time.
Hill and a non-LSU student Robert Bayardo jumped Connor Baldridge, an LSU student, outside a bar in late April. Hill hit him first and Bayardo punched him in the back of the head, knocking him unconscious. A cell phone video shows Hill, Bayardo and others high-fiving after Baldridge hit the floor.
Baldridge and his family said they would let the court system make their own decision, but that they would accept the new two-year probation offer. Also as part of the plea deal, Hill cannot publically disclose any aspect of the incident on any forum and must avoid all contact with Baldridge.
Senior Tigers safety Craig Loston said he recently spoke to Hill and told him to keep working out and to stay in shape because he could be reinstated pending upcoming legal actions.
Said Loston: "He's doing the right things."
