Fans of the "Star Wars" series have been very eager to see what is in the "Rogue One: A star Wars Story" film. Darth Vader's appearance was just confirmed along with the other big characters such as Mon Mothma and Bail Organa. The big bad emperor, however, seems to be out of the scenes.
One of the big bad villains in the series will not be making an appearance in the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and it has been confirmed by the actor himself. Emperor Palpatine actor, Ian McDiarmid, has played the role in the last three sequels of the franchise, according to Cinema Blend.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" happened in between the events shown in "The Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope". This is an indication that there will be several characters that wuld be returning. It would have been very obvious that Darth Vader and emperor Palpatine would make cameo appearances. However, McDiarmid himself has spoken that he [Emperor Palpatine] will not be featured in the movie. He also added that Darth would be there, Express reported.
There are many fans who are disappointed with the emperor's absence wile others say that it is just logical that the emperor is not around in the "Rogue One" setting. There are also some fans who are okay with it so that new characters will have more time on camera.
This does not mean, however, that the Emperor would never be seen in the whole franchise anymore. There are still posibilities that he will return to a future film. McDiarmid is now 72 years old and a lightsaber battle would take a lot of effort. So, if ever Emperor Palpatine would make future appearances, there would not be very much activities.
