Following a meteoric freshman season and the ensuing offseason, Johnny Manziel has taken his first step towards the football season, fielding questions at SEC media days.

According to ESPN, the Texas A&M quarterback was calm and collected despite being the most anticipated interview of the day by the hundreds of reporters in attendance. Dressed in a navy suit, checkered shirt and stripped tie, he fielded questions on a range of topics from his off-field antics to his early departure from the Manning passing camp.

USA Today Sports posted a picture on Twitter displaying the scene around Manziel's table at Wednesday's SEC media event.

Manziel, the only freshman to ever win the Heisman trophy, said he left the camp where he was a college quarterback counselor to high school passers not because of sickness and not because he was hung over. He said it was a mutual decision between him and the camp hosts, Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

"The speculation of me being too hung over and that's the reason I missed the meetings is absolutely incorrect," he said.

According to Manziel, affectionately nicknamed "Johnny Football" by Aggies fans, he did not set his alarm the night before and his phone died during his sleep. His roommate, Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, also did not wake him up.

"I'm definitely not going to pin it on him," Manziel said. "It's my fault - 115, 120 percent."

He included that there were no hard feelings between him and the Mannings and that he was invited back next summer. There were social meetings away from the camp with the Mannings and the college quarterbacks. The hangouts naturally lent themselves to the young athletes picking the minds of two of the NFL's best passers and their father who taught them. Manziel strongly denied ever partying too hard during these social get-togethers.

"I probably bit off more than I can chew in July, been traveling, been going a lot of places. I just overslept. I made a mistake and didn't wake up in time when I should have," Manziel said. "That's pretty much the end of that."

The Aggies quarterback addressed his whirlwind offseason, which was well documented with his Twitter and Instagram account. Events included numerous NBA playoff games, a Yankee stadium visit, a UFC fight, golf outings and, of course, parties.

"It's been lots of fun," he told the media gathering. "I continue to meet people and do things that were on the bucket list. I got to go to Toronto, got to meet LeBron (James) for the second time and have more of a conversation. I got to go to Finals games. And I'm thankful my parents could go to those places -- and I got to go to these camps and work with kids, the Elite 11 and the Manning Camp."

Manziel also pleaded guilty on Monday to a misdemeanor for not properly identifying himself to police in a 2012 bar fight incident. He also did not address his tweet about wanting to leave College Station past the following apology tweet. He also admitted to mostly taking online courses and was not on campus a whole lot.

"I don't feel like I've done anything that's catastrophic," Manziel said. "Of course, I've made my mistakes. It's time to grow up."

Johnny Football has not committed anything that would warrant a serious investigation, but he has always seemed to do just enough to keep his name in the headlines.

However, Manizel did not think it would deter him from his eventful life off the field, saying: "I'm still going to live my life to the fullest."
