Many rumors circulating through the web expect Microsoft Surface Pro 5 to be launched this year. However, here are some reasons why it may be delayed

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 rumor: Intel Kaby Lake processor

Another rumored performance booster is the Intel Kaby Lake processor. If Microsoft equips Surface Pro 5 with this seventh generation core processor, it will be more power-efficient. Since the Surface Pro 4 release, there has been a battery issue and this new chip would make a great deal in increasing the performance while reducing power consumption.

However, the Kaby Lake has not even shown up anywhere. Christian Today speculates that Intel could release the chip at the end of 2016.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 specs: Windows 10 Redstone 2 and 4K display

Microsoft is expected to equip its upcoming hybrid laptop with Windows 10 Redstone 2 but the Redstone 2 is rumored to arrive in early 2017, or could be in November this year like what WccfTech reported. This makes more sense that Microsoft will not launch Surface Pro 5 in early 2017.

Other speculations on the specs include the two display variants, 2K and 4K. If the rants are true, we should see the first-ever hybrid laptop to sport impressive display quality. The Surface Pro 5 is expected to sport USB type C port and much improved Surface Pen.

It may be powered by either Nvidia Pascal-based GPU or AMD's architecture along with 16 GB of RAM. The base model could come with a price range from $899 to $1599

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date

Many rumors circulating through the web point on early 2017 release date. Some even believe that the Surface Pro 5 device will arrive this year. However, given all the specs that they speculate and wish for; the hybrid laptop is unlikely to appear in early 2017. The Surface Pro series fans should at least expect the release sometime in next year's second quarter.

As for now, all the rumors around Microsoft Surface Pro 5 are to be taken with a grain of salt.
