Google Nexus 2016 will come with the Android 7.1 Nougat. The exciting news is a welcome information even though it has not yet been confirmed.

Google has just released its first major Android 7.0 Nougat update and yet there has already been much excitement for the Google Nexus 2016 with speculations regarding its features and specifications. For now, the only fact that is clear is that the upcoming Nexus phones will be built by HTC, BGR reported.

There is a high possibility that the upcoming Nexus phones for this year will be two smartphones with Android 7.1 and some other relatively new features. These speculations surfaced because of a recent Reddit post that is followed by David Ruddock of Android Police that published the said claims about the Google Nexus 2016.

The Android 7.0 Nougat news coming to Google Nexus 2016 makes it an especially good reason for those who previously thought of the Google Nexus 2016 as having nothing special, to rethink their first impression. The buzz is that the owners of the next Nexus phones will have an entirely new operating system.

The Nexus phones have been code named HTC Nexus Sailfish and HTC Nexus Marlin, which have almost the same specifications with only screen size as their difference. The Marlin variant will sport a 5.5-inch display and the Sailfish will have a smaller 5-inch screen.

Previously, it was said that both Nexus phones will feature a brand new launcher and a redesigned home button to be used for activating the new Google Assistant. Google is yet to confirm anything of the rumored specs and new features.

Google Nexus 2016 is expected to be given more clarity since the two smartphones are expected to be released in September. Whether or not the Android 7.1 will be in the Nexus phones is expected to be announced very soon. Watch the HTC Nexus Marlin/Sailfish first 3D video rendering based on latest leaks here.
