Reports have circulated over the past month regarding the casting of "Vampire Diaries" alum, Todd Lasance with then unknown role. Now, according to IB Times, it seems that the showrunners of The CW's hit series, "The Flash" have broken their silence regarding Lasance.

After all the confusion and speculations regarding bringing Lasance in to the world of the "Scarlet Speedster," Lasance's role has finally been unveiled.

The 31 year old Aussie actor will portray "The Rival" in season 3 of "The Flash." In a report by TV Line, who was first to break the news that Lasance will be playing a recurring speedster villain in the upcoming season, and he will also be debuted in the very first episode of the season.

Last Tuesday, a story was published by The Hollywood Reporter that claims that Lasance was brought in to play the role of "Savitar," who will be one of the two main villainsin the upcoming season. However, Greg Berlanti, executive producer of The Flash took to twitter and quickly shot down the report, and further clarifying that is still no actor chosen yet to play season 3's big baddie.

As fans may recall, several images have surfaced that involves the character of Wally West, played by Keiynan Lonsdale finally doning the suit of Kid Flash, and becoming another speedster. With Lonsdale is another speedster dressed and black, and fans have done a lot of speculating regarding who this new character is.

"The Rival" in DC Comics lore is a speedster that wears a black suit. Edward Clariss in without the costume, he was a professor at the same university where Jay Garrick studied from. It was believe that he was the one who was able to recreate the formula that gave Garrick his super speed. The consensus of the scientific community doubted his claims of recreating the fomula, which caused him to become a criminal with a darker Flash costume.
